What's up with this blog?

We wanted to have a way for our family and friends to keep up with all of our goings-on, since we're about to get really, really busy. We just got married (April 27th for those of you somehow out of the loop!), and are in the process of moving and changing jobs. We just found a gorgeous house to rent in Summerville, just outside of Charleston, and I am in the process of moving there from a townhouse. I graduate from MUSC's college of medicine this Friday, and have a month off before starting residency (staying at MUSC in Charleston, raise up!). Basically my time off has been full of paperwork and forms and online training. As Patrick fondly jokes, "Who knew you had to fill out so much paperwork just to be a doctor?!"

Patrick is in the middle of TWO big changes. He's amid a "port swap." In order for him to transfer from Savannah from Charleston, he had to find someone willing to leave Charleston. Unfortunately for us, Charleston is not only a very desirable area to reside in, it's on the smaller side (fewer guys to trade with) and it's not hectic or busy like the Atlanta airport. After posting a sort of personal ad online, asking for a swap, and enlisting some buddies with personal connections, he finally found a potential swap. We found out later this guy actually lives right across the street from our new house!! That's a whole discussion in itself.  Anyway, he's in a holding pattern right now for that but we're hoping for a start date of mid-June. He's also trying to sell his house in Savannah (proving more difficult than originally intended).

What's up with the blog name?

It's a bit of a misnomer by this point, but if you're interested we'll eventually get around to posting about that one too.
